All You Need to Know About CUET 2026

From eligibility to exam structure — everything in one place

What is CUET?
CUET (Common University Entrance Test) is a centralised national-level entrance exam conducted by NTA for undergraduate admissions across central, state, deemed, and private universities in India. It was introduced to replace the patchwork of individual college-level tests with a single, merit-based gateway for all students. Commerce students can appear in Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics, Mathematics, English, and the General Aptitude Test (GAT) — choosing up to 5 subjects based on their target program and university requirements.
Eligibility Criteria
Class 12 pass or appearing — Students in Class 12 or who have passed from any recognised board are eligible.
No minimum percentage required by NTA — individual universities may set their own bar (typically 45–60%).
No upper age limit — for most programs. Check specific university norms.
No restriction on attempts — Droppers and repeaters are fully eligible.
Cross-stream allowed by NTA — A Science or Arts student can appear for Commerce domain subjects. Individual universities may have their own subject requirements — always check the specific program’s brochure.
Exam Pattern (Commerce)
CUET 2026 is divided into three sections. All papers have 50 compulsory MCQ questions, 60 minutes each. There is no internal choice — all 50 questions must be attempted.
Section 1A / 1B — Language: Choose 1 language (e.g. English).
Section 2 — Domain Subjects: BST, Accountancy, Economics, Maths.
Section 3 — General Aptitude Test (GAT): Reasoning, GK, Current Affairs, Numerical & Quantitative Ability.
Marking Scheme: +5 for correct, −1 for wrong, 0 for unattempted.
